There is a girl in our office, we call her Winky (no, she doesn't wink). She's that person, you know the one, who is always infallibly cheery. No matter what happens she is cheery to the point where some days I simply want to kill her. I swear I could be torturing puppies and she would still see the positive side.
But sometimes, we all need someone in our life like that.
A few weeks ago (probably longer, let's face it, I suck with time flow), in a passing conversation, Winky said "why don't you blog anymore, it was really good". And naturally I gave the usual
But those small words lodged themselves in my brain and have stuck with me, and so I started posting photo's on Facebook, you know, just of what I cooked for dinner that night. It got a lot of attention, and then I stopped doing it again, as i do. I am a contrary beast.
Ironically enough, I only put my photos & blog posts on Facebook, and Winky isn't on Facebook, so she wouldn't even know about it.
And then I took a rec day today. And after the cleaning and the cooking, I sat down at my laptop with some spare time and just as I was about to open Age of Mythology (don't judge me) and I stopped and thought, maybe I should go look on the blogs.
And when I looked, I saw there had been traffic...
Quite a bit...
Which shocked me.
And now it is 3 hours later. I have posted 4 blog entries (2 old ones that had been sitting around and 2 new ones), this will be the 5th and I have a sixth one to do after that.
And all because of what one person had said to me in passing.
I get a lot of questions and encouragement and pushing to write on the blogs more, but it's from my inner circle (I'm looking straight at Shelly and Melanie here), but I ignore it, because they're essentially my family and I just assume that they are cheering me on for the sake of cheering me on. Cause that's what family do.
So this little post, with no recipe attached and no food assocaited to it (with possibly the exception of all the food cooked today by it's inspriration) is a tribute to Winky and her small comment that made a big difference.
Thanks.
